This exhibition marked five decades of Adrian Ensor’s work in his Fitzrovia darkroom. The show included selected photographs spanning several thematic strands of his practice—his landscapes, architectural work, “Monumental London,” and new, unseen work such as the sculptural rock forms at Varengeville‑sur‑Mer, France.
The Aperture UK London 2022
When Ensor came across Varengeville-sur-Mer in North France, he fell in love with these rocks fallen from the cliff to the below beach. For him, those quirky-shaped rocks were the perfect objects to express contrast, texture, and the effect of light and shadow on, making the series a summarisation of his photographic work.
